A very big weekend here at the Canterbury A&P Show - ‘Let There Be Meat’ BBQ Competition.
Competing alongside @matthewtait_bbq & @quetensils π₯
Day one saw us enter the Steak Cookoff Association Steak & first ever sanctioned Whole Hog Cook-off.
Finally cracked steak again and took out first place earning me my golden ticket to the world championship in Texas next year!
Hog was smoked in the awesome @smokedogg_smokers gravity fed cabinet.
Unfortunately later in the cook the front shoulders dropped resulting in a scoliosis/stegasaurus effect π
This knocked us back in presentation, but happy with 2nd for flavour.
We had never done a whole hog before, so we were really pleased with the outcome.
Day two was the hand ins for the NZBA competition for chicken, ribs, pork & brisket.
Luck was not on our side in placings, with a 13th for pork being our best result.
Happy with two 50’s & two 49’s for presentation however.

Big shout out to the huge amount of North Island crew who came all this way, great to meat most of you.
Awesome work by More Better BBQ for another GC & Big Bark BBQ for RGC!
Huge tip of the cap to the new local boys @ Smokin Fellas who flew under the radar and smashed it in their very first comp, taking out 1st in brisket and 3rd overall!π»
